The Cognitive First and CogRead Campaign nonprofit mission is to help children maximize their reading and learning capacity and improve their academic performance. Our mandate is to advocate for all children, especially under-resourced and at-risk children, to have access to cognitive reading and learning advantages that can change their lives.
The Cognitive First story is a simple one; it is about school age children, tens of thousands who have had their lives changed in the nation’s leading clinics and the millions who will never get help in a clinic. With new awareness and access to the same online training exercises used in the clinics children can build stronger underlying reading and learning skills. Children who enter school already behind can catch up and will not have to struggle with reading, drop out or at best never achieve their full potential.
On this site a parent can learn what they need to know and can access exercises to help their child develop stronger reading and learning skills. However, widespread access for under-resourced and at-risk children will only happen as communities set a 90% reading proficiency goal for third grade children and make meeting that goal their highest priority in local education reform. You need to understand not only what can happen in your community, but you need to understand what you can do—even with a few spare minutes—to make it happen.
