Getting Started: Community Organizations and Community Initiatives
Click to Read the Cog1st Announcement
We have grants and gifts available for community organizations and community initiatives that are currently providing care or services for foster children or under-resourced, at-risk children. In addressing the many needs and issues of these children there is often a huge gap when it comes to reading and learning skills. We call that gap the Skill Gap. Together we can close it.
The Academic Gap for low-income children is first a Skill Gap. Communities can successfully address this issue. We are raising awareness that reading difficulties can be prevented in first grade and children who start school already behind can be helped with screenings and one-on-one training interventions; a combination of mentoring/coaching and online exercises.
Children in the organizations you serve or facilitate can be helped in a matter of weeks. Those children don’t have to stay on a path that will make them a statistic on a list of dropouts. As a community organization or initiative you can contact us directly. We can donate additional access in packages to help children who are striving in school, or directly to an individual low-income parent with an at-risk child.
In simplest terms much of the family issue and the limitations children experience in school can be prevented in Kindergarten and 1st grade. We are donating reading readiness and learning intervention programs and facilitating the implementation of those programs for under-resourced and at-risk children. Community awareness and ownership of the reading and learning struggles among their children, along with the support of faith-based and community initiatives can greatly help to address the issue You are the key to catching lower-income children up in school and helping them be self-sufficient, successful citizens.
